COMMUNITY MUSIC MIXES

HOW TO TAKE PART: This musical series is a chance for people to tell their stories in a creative format. All you need to do is arrange a short phone call with Paul Midgley (Director and Workshop Facilitator at Twin Wave CIC) and your words will be recorded live and turned into ‘samples’ (short snippets of your conversation).

*Use the form below to schedule a call.

Alternatively you can record your voice on your phone and email to paul via WeTransfer, Dropbox or GoogleDrive.

All of these samples will be made freely available for local music producers to use when creating their Community Music Mix track.

OPEN TO ALL: This mini-project is open to anyone in the community, and is suitable for vulnerable adults, those at risk of social isolation and the elderly.

*Note: Paul is DBS checked and has 25 years experience working in the community.

MIX 1:
CARNIVAL

The theme for Mix 1 is ‘Carnival’. Awon from Bedmo Disco has created his Afro-Columbian inspired track using Cumbia samples and vocal parts from members of the community.

Paul’s track includes sequenced drum parts from Maracatu notation with layered flute sounds using his ‘junk flute’ made from recycled materials.

If you are a producer and would like to make your own mix, all vocal audio samples can be accessed for free using the button below.
